SASKATOON – The all-star team consists of players from three different clubs with the Saskatoon Blazers claiming three spots. The team features one goalie and the five most-impactful players – regardless of position.

Skaters:

Kade Hughes – Grande Peace Storm: Quite simply, Hughes could take over the play on nearly any shift. His combination of elite skating, puck-handling and vision on the ice made him the most difficult player to contain in the tournament. When asked after the tournament why Hughes isn’t drafted by a WHL team, Grande Peace head coach Ryan Allen was at a loss of words.

Jeremy Wehrens – Saskatoon Blazers: Led the tournament with seven goals, but none were bigger than his game-tying tally in the second period of the final against Estevan.

DJ Brass – Estevan Bears: Six goals and three assists in four games to lead the SHC in points. “DJ was our best forward,” said Estevan head coach Ryan Pilon. “He provided an offensive spark and was first on the back-check.” Wenatchee of the WHL has a great prospect.

Tyson Medernach – Saskatoon Blazers: A perfect shot in OT in the semi-final sent the Blazers into the championship game. It was part of a seven-point week.

Boston Schmidt – Estevan Bears: An elite skater with a wicked shot, Schmidt finished the tournament tied for second with eight points in four games.

Goalie:

Madex Kabrud – Saskatoon Blazers: One goal against in the championship final – and he stared-down three clear breakaways from Estevan’s captain Gunner Moore.

FINISH LINES: Congrats to four members of the Regina Pat Canadians for being named first-team all stars at the Circle K Classic in Calgary: Maddox Schultz, Liam Pue, Nathan Gardiner, Adam Muntain.
