Gunner Moore, graduating forward and captain of the Innovex Estevan Bears, will be staying in Estevan after his U18 AAA career ends after this season.

Moore announced his commitment to play the 2026-27 season with the Estevan Bruins in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) on January 7th, a day after his 18th birthday.

“Obviously it’s super special, I’ve spent most of my years here playing hockey, and I watched the Bruins growing up, so it’s obviously special to commit here,” said Moore in an article on estevanbruins.com.

”It’s a great organization, I like the coaching staff, the guys are great and I think we’re going to have a good team next year so hopefully I can come into the league and make an impact for these guys.”

The local product from Carievale has suited up in 4 games with the Bruins already, his first SJHL game last season and 3 games so far in 2025-26 where Moore has already registered his first career SJHL goal and has 3 points in call-up duty.

“We’re obviously very excited to have Gunner as part of our group for next year, and the future of the Bruins,” Head Coach Drew Kocur said. “He’s done great things at the AAA level, he’s been called up a couple of times this year and been a point-per-game, and we know what he brings. Gunner’s skilled, he’s slick, he’s smart with the puck and he can skate. It helps that he’s real close to Estevan too and we’re excited to have him.”

Moore was a 1st Round draft selection (7th overall) by the Bruins in the 2023 SJHL U15 Draft.

Before Moore takes this next step in his hockey career, the Bears’ captain and franchise leader in points will look to lead the team to its first career playoff series win this spring. So far this season, Moore leads the Bears with 51 points (15G/36A) which is 4th overall in SMAAAHL scoring as of January 8th.
