The Innovex Estevan Bears will once again be participating in a mid-season exhibition tournament hosted by the SMAAAHL in Saskatoon.
The Saskatchewan Hockey Classic returns after it’s inaugural edition last season, which took place between Christmas and New Years over six days. The Bears won their first three games and advanced to the championship game, falling 3-1 to the Saskatoon Blazers.
The tournament will look slightly different this year, being played over a weekend in November and with some new teams participating. The Bears will play in two round robin games, then in one more “playoff game” depending on their record after two games.
Below is the format and schedule for this year’s tournament. All games will be played at Merlis Belsher Place in Saskatoon and can be viewed online on FloHockey.
The Saskatoon Blazers, Estevan Innovex Bears and Yorkton Kinsmen Maulers will be joined by the Sherwood Park Athletic Club Ennis Kings, Lloydminster Lancers from the same U18AAA Alberta circuit and the Winnipeg Rink Academy U18 prep team.
The three-day tournament will be full of drafted players belonging to WHL and Junior A teams.
Watch for regular updates as the tournament approaches. The draw is listed below:
