The Innovex Estevan Bears have guaranteed a berth in the 2026 SMAAAHL Postseason.
The Bears earned the berth after a 9-2 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds on Wednesday, February 4th in their 37th game of the season. It’s the earliest date in team history that the Bears have clinched a playoff spot, and the third consecutive season in the team’s 6-year existence.
The 2025-26 season didn’t start out as planned, with the Bears struggling to a (3-9-0-0) record after 12 games. Since then, the Bears have been one of the top teams in the league running a (19-3-1-2) record since October 29th which has catapulted the team into the 5th position in the standings entering play on February 5th.
Despite clinching a spot, the Bears still have plenty of important games down the stretch as they battle for home-ice advantage in the first round of playoffs.
